June 2009 Capital Club Bahrain officially opened The Capital Club, Bahrain’s premier private business Club, was officially opened on 17th June by H.E. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Essa Al-Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Club. Signature Clubs International, developers of the Capital Club, hosted the club’s Board of Governors, Members and dignitaries at a reception to celebrate its official opening at the East Tower of the prestigious Bahrain Financial Harbour. “The launch of the Capital Club in Bahrain, following on from the success of the Capital Club in Dubai is a key event for Bahrain’s business and social community,” said Guy Guillemard, CEO and Co-Founder of Signature Clubs International and the Capital Club Dubai. “The Kingdom of Bahrain has one of the most diversified economies in the GCC and the Capital Club has played and will continue to play a major role in catering to this community,” said David Williamson, General Manager of the Capital Club Bahrain. April 2009 Capital Club Dubai Celebrates First Anniversary Under the patronage of H. H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Honorary Chairman, The Capital Club, Dubai’s premier private business club, held an event to celebrate its First Anniversary and support the START Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation. H. E. Dr. Omar Bin Sulaiman, Governor of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and Chairman of the Capital Club, hosted the Club’s Board of Governors, and Members and other dignitaries at the Club located within Gate Village at the heart of DIFC. “The Capital Club has become the Number One private club in Dubai,” said Andrew Christon, General Manager of the Capital Club Dubai. “Our aim is to serve the business leaders of the country and to be the premier private business club of the region and we are succeeding in achieving this. Despite the current economic challenges, we have welcomed over 90 new club members this year, bringing our membership to over 1,300 members, an amazing success story considering the short amount of time the club has been open.” The proceeds of AED 185,550 from the Capital Club’s Anniversary party will go to the START Foundation, a unique programme in the Middle East that reaches out specifically to refugees, orphans, and special needs children. START delivers practical arts education to children who have limited means to explore their creativity, and enriches the lives of young people by helping them discover their talents, and develop new skills they can be proud of. The non-profit programme was formed in 2007 as a partnership between the Al Madad Foundation and Art Dubai and is funded from donations and fundraising initiatives and all funds are used to purchase art supplies and organize the art workshops. July 2008 GM appointed for club in Bahrain David Willamson, a club industry veteran, has been appointed as the General Manager by SCI for Capital Club Bahrain. David’s career spans from Europe into almost all of the far East where he has held executive positions in clubs and the service sector. David was General Manager of private clubs such as the Banker Club in Malaysia, the Mercantile Club in Jakarta and the Capitol Club in Bangkok. His expertise of over 30 years is in the areas of club development, operations, food and beverage, sales and general management.
July 2008 SCI announces Expansion Plans SCI has advanced plans for a business club in Amman while opportunities for family and country clubs are under negotiation in Abu Dhabi, Cairo and Karachi. “We are committed to creating a network of outstanding private clubs - with fine premises, a top quality membership, great staff, exceptional dining and entertaining, outstanding events and services to create the perfect, private yet comfortable club ambience for business and social life”, advises Guy Guillemard, CEO of Signature Clubs International.
June 2008 Bahrain launches Membership SCI’s second business Club in the Middle East region, the Capital Club Bahrain with opening on course for end of the year launched its membership this month, spearheaded by the Club’s Membership Director. Located in Bahrain’s prestigious new development, the Bahrain Financial Harbour, the Club is already attracting members from the top business and financial houses of the Kingdom of Bahrain and Eastern Saudi Arabia.
March 2008 Capital Club Bahrain - First Board of Governors Meeting With a prestigious Board of Governors headed by Chairman H.E. Shaikh Mohammed Bin Essa Al-Khalifa the Capital Club held its first Board of Governors’ meeting at the premises of the Club itself on 10th March 2008. The meeting was well attended on the 52nd floor of the East Tower of the Bahrain Financial Harbour, affording fabulous views of Manama city and the Gulf coast while guests enjoyed a stylish evening.
